My New Dinosaur Fossil

April 5, 2008

A couple summers ago Henry was filming on a dinosaur dig out in far eastern Montana--you know the little town of Jordan where the Freemen were hanging out and plotting.

One day Henry stumbled over a dinosaur bone that garnered interest from the archaeologists. And he got to name it--Smiling Melynda.

The fossilized bone was taken back to the Museum of the Rockies for restoring and cataloging. A few weeks ago Bob Harmon, chief preparator of paleontology at the Museum of the Rockies (read a stirring article about him here) sent me a few pictures of the Smiling Melynda fossil.

Dinosaur bone
Did someone lose part of their leg?

I'm not sure where it will end up, but it could be on display at the Museum of the Rockies. At the very least it will be stored in the basement for future research.
