Sunflowers gone wild

Last year I planted a few sunflowers in my garden. Just four or five to pretty-up the place.

Apparently they reseeded themselves. I didn't have the heart to thin them out and they are now totally out of control.

Aaahhhh, they are trying to escape. Hide your children!

The more subtle sweetpea.

The other part of the garden.

Garden Plan

Instead of uploading pictures from Easter Extravaganza, I've been messing around with gardening software from Plangarden.

Here is what I came up with for my little backyard plot.

Check back this summer to see if it actually turns out like this!

Windowsill garden update

You may recall that I started a window garden a few weeks ago. There are two containers of lettuce (a spicy mesclun mix) and two pots with basil.

The lettuce is coming along really well.

The basil, not as promising, but there is still time.

Windowsill garden

I'm trying a little experiment to see if there is enough light in my kitchen window to grow plants in the winter.

I've planted a mesclun salad mix (not to be confused with the drug mesculine--we grow that in another window) and a couple basil plants.

In 50 short days we should have lettuce and a month later, basil.

Don't worry, there will be updates!
